World COPD Day 2006
Every year in Kazakhstan the World COPD Day is held by KAFP. This Day is realized by the initiative of World Organization of Family Physicians and GOLD program of World organization of Health “Global initiative on Chronicle Obstructive Lung Disease (COPD)”.
The First World COPD Day was held in 2002. Each year organizers in more than 50 countries worldwide have carried out activities, making the day one of the world's most important COPD awareness and education events. COPD is a global problem and there is a fast increase of this disease in all the countries. Last researches had shown that COPD occurs 3 times more often then it was thought before. Every 10 th person in the World has COPD. This disease is mostly found in the countries where the smoking is widely spread. Almost 3 million people worldwide die because of the COPD. On the evidence of the WHO COPD takes the 4 th place as a result of the death yielding just to heart attacks, accidents and acute lung diseases.
This year World COPD Day was held on November, 15 th. As in previous years several events and activities were held by KAFP regarding the World COPD Day. Via National Radio of Kz the population was informed about the COPD and coming free consulting, medical inspection, spirometry confined to the World COPD Day. Training modules in diagnostics, treatment and precautions of COPD were held in all branches of KAFP. In Almaty city was free consulting and spirometry of the patients with the COPD symptoms. Within the World COPD Day KAFP published and distributed the brochures on COPD for doctors and patients recommended by GOLD. More than 200 doctors participated in module trainings with the stations related to the treatment and diagnostics of COPD that were conducted by President of KAFP, MD Nugmanova D.S., lecturers of the chair of Family Medicine cs Zuhegova E.B., cs Nurkina N.M., Stafeeva I.Y., Abdieva B.K.
